The first event dedicated to digital cultures in Lyon, Mirage Festival has been investigating the links between artistic creation and technologies for more than seven years. In order to showcase the richness and diversity of this contemporary creation nourished by technologies, the festival offers a unique format built around three interrelated building blocks: an exhibition, a series of performances and a reflective lab, the Mirage Creative+. The 2019 theme is "Turmoil - Mankind and its future faced with the consequences of progress".

Topics related to societal, environmental, ethical, economic or political issues, offer an ideal theoretical and creative scope for players of the artistic ecosystem, who see them as a chance to reinvent our social model and our ways of thinking. With a view to constant innovation, artists envisage our future on the planet as a laboratory of aesthetic experiments, but also as a political act. In our Anthropocene epoch marked by collapsologist prophecies, this round table will look into the role of the artist faced with the urgent need to “repopulate our imaginations” (Stengers).
