About The Poster: Festival of Posters, Post-Poster Forms and Experimental Graphic Design
What is a poster today? A vehicle for retro nostalgia? A print for home decoration? A tool for political protest? Or a hope for anti-AI design? The Poster is a new festival that connects the past, present and future of poster culture. While referencing the history of the Polish School of Posters, the programme also presents new design practices and digital tools that are changing how posters are created and understood in Poland, Europe, and around the world.
The festival programme includes a conference, talks, workshops, exhibitions, performances, and a design community meeting. Highlights include an exhibition of posters connected with club and dance culture; an event combining music and screen printing, 'Print'n'Dance', by Poster Rex; and a guided walk through places connected with poster culture in Warsaw. Speakers at the conference will include Baugasm, Eunbee Lee, Johnson/Kingston, Katarzyna Matul, Martin Lorenz, Martyna Wędzicka-Obuchowicz, Poster Rex and Tim Rodenbröker, among others. The festival coincides with the 60th anniversary of the world’s first International Poster Biennale in Warsaw. Participation in the festival is free and open to all.
