Typographische Gesellschaft München e.V. (tgm)
The tgm is one of Europe’s leading creative organizations – not just an association, but a laboratory for exploring the interplay of content and form, text and image, design, technology, and society. Established in 1890 by typesetters and printers, it has evolved into an interdisciplinary platform for more than 850 members across the creative and media industries. Its program includes lectures, seminars, artDates, TypeWalks, conferences, study tours … Each format opens spaces for exchange, knowledge, and exploration – driven by expertise, curiosity, and a commitment to collaboration. For over 135 years, the tgm has been a collective achievement of dedicated volunteers. This is where freelancers come together with agency leaders, students meet educators, and developers meet print specialists. What unites them is a shared belief that communication is both a craft and an art; it does not happen by chance, but through knowledge, skill and the courage to engage in dialogue. In this spirit, the tgm provides impulses and assumes responsibility – as an interdisciplinary platform and as a guardian of communication and typographic culture. It is a place where typography is not only discussed, but lived. Typography in good company.
