Fourth edition of Graphic Design Festival Scotland. The festival promotes the best of international graphic design and visual communication and aims to inspire and educate through active engagement. Networking and socialising play a key role in the festival and we aim to build relationships and networks across the world. The programme offers workshops, talks, panel discussions, exhibitions, competitions, music and more.

This years workshops encompass: poster design, environmental graphics, visual language, identity systems, branding, type design, sign painting, web design, web development, photography, publishing, creative process investigation, animation, urban artwork, illustration and presentation.

TopForm: A series of insightful talks and discussion with six international creative industry leaders: Wolff Olins, Supermundane, Studio Dumbar, Pentagram’s Harry Pearce, Spin and Pantone.

Exhibitions:

International Poster Exhibition.

Posters act as a simple vehicle for communication and have provided a powerful framework for political agendas, War propaganda and the dissemination of public information, alongside being used as tools to sell commercial goods and services for centuries. However outwith their functional existence, they provide a canvas for millions of designers around the world.

This exhibition is a showcase and celebration of contemporary poster design from around the world.

Those exhibited will be curated shortlist of entries to Graphic Design Festival Scotland’s 2017 International Poster Competition which is open now.

Competitions:

International Poster Competition. Deadline: 21.08.17.

The brief is open. Submissions may be created specifically for the competition, for a client or as self promotion.

On the jury sit South Korean designer and director of Studio FNT Jaemin Lee, festival founders and Glasgow-based design practice Warriors Studio (UK), 2016 competition winner Koos Breen (NL) and ex-senior art director at It's Nice That, Jamie McIntyre (UK).

The entries most highly rated by the jury will be exhibited in Scotland’s National Centre for Design & Architecture, The Lighthouse between the 20th October – 25th November 2017. The top 3 competition winners will be awarded cash prizes.

Live Project:

Work on a design-led brief over 2 days with mentorship from some of the top creative practices in Scotland:

Freytag Anderson, Graphical House, Jamhot, Kerr Vernon, Stand, MadeBrave, O Street, STV Creative, Recoat, Tangent and Front Page.

SHORTS:

A evening of short films, showcasing a curated selection from artists and film makers from across the world, produced in collaboration with Pretend Lovers.
